Sure, you may have seen something similar to this here and there in other places. Locally grown produce. OK, that's been done before. Fresh ingredients, that's nothing new. A tasty meal that delights your taste buds without clogging your arteries? A challenge. But we're not the first to pull it off. But here's the kicker...toss all those ingredients in a big ol' cooking pot, stir them up, and add a super low...I mean a SUPER ridiculously low price to it all. That's what Home Grown is all about. Fresh food fast. Tasty food that won't give you catastrophic heart failure. A meal that will fill up your belly without emptying your wallet. Welcome to Home Grown folks. We're not just here to give you a good meal, we're here to give you a new home. Everyone's welcome and we won't slow down til everyone has a happy belly and a smile on their face..

So much to tell you about the month of May 2012. Part 2
I'm making pancakes, yet I have not gotten familiar with this stove. I've cook on gas stoves the majority of my life. It's time for change. I'll do my best.
My son is sweet enough to eat these pancakes. The good news is he scrapes off the burnt parts. P.S. I usually am a great cook. Oh well...

I have so much to share. Part 1, May 2012
It's been awhile since I've sat down to write on my blog.
One Saturday in May 2012. I sat out on the small patio in front of my unit rocking and eating cereal in my rocking chair. My neighbor came over and asked me if I wanted to go shopping with him. I agreed. He took me to a barbecue place called Moe's Original in the Georgia Tech area.
Moe's Original Bar B Que features award-winning Bama-style BBQ. Offerings
include: Pulled Pork, Ribs, Wings, Chicken and Turkey in addition to Catfish and
a Shrimp Moe-Boy Sandwich all complemented by an array of Southern Sides and

Back in the Writing Again
I'm so happy I finished my writing assignment. I'm taking an online children’s literature class that was recommended by my mentor/literary mother. This course has helped me so much in my growth as a budding children's writer.
I've had at least 8 deadline extensions, (the first for me).
I went through so many personal transitions from moving, my son's graduating from high school and preparing for college, to the passing of my mother. I didn't think I could make it through let alone finish a writing assignment, but I am still standing.
There was a time I didn't think there was a God to comfort me. I felt like I was going through these series of events alone. I would call out to Him, "GOD, HELP ME!" That was all I could do. I felt like I was drowning in mid-air.
I didn't think my mother passing would hit me so hard, and take me under; taking my breath away, but it did, and now I can breathe deeply once again.
Thank God for whatever it was that helped me through and brought me back to feeling much better.

Car Repairs and Fish Tacos, Oh Want a Wonderful Day! / May 12, 2012
I've been looking for a good mechanic that will not take advantage of me. Because I am a female; I’m sure you know what happens.
I think I've done my Mercury Cougar, Ella, (named after the late, great Jazz Singer, Ella Fitzgerald) a disservice.
I’ve been looking for a mechanic that will not overcharge me and treat Ella like a lady for some time now. I think it’s been two year since I got her.
A White, 1987 Cougar that had 37,000 mile on her when I purchased her. She needs desperate repair and brake job. I bought a $20 online coupon last year in December 2011. However, the location happened to be in Alpharetta! I was too excited about the coupon that I didn’t pay attention to the location until after I purchased the coupon. (This place is too far away! I hate driving long distances! That is why I moved to West End and now to Reynoldstown to stay downtown near my job.)
I called the location and I was told they were not open on weekends. I had to find time to take off during the week. Finally, I called back (around February 2012) and was told in fact, I didn’t need an appointment. I drove to the area in Alpharetta. I was told I was at the wrong location! How did I manage to make this mistake! Jeez! What is wrong with me? But the link showed this was one of the locations that accepted the coupon. Oh well.
Since I was there I got Ella, checked out. She needed her belt changed, $100. I didn’t feel like it was a wasted trip.
A couple of months later, I’m finally at the right place but it's still too far away from Reynoldstown. It’s in Marietta, GA. it’s about 30 minutes drive and this is still too far for me. I’m excited to find a place for Ella to get serviced. She needs brakes. The front brakes are trashed. The clerk at the counter tells me the front brakes, pads, and rotors will cost $659. A hit to my spirit and pocketbook; the clerk is nice enough to give me his employee discount.
I decide to get something to eat because of a lengthy process and the clerk gives me a variety of selections of places to eat lunch. I walk to the nearest Mexican restaurant.
The hostess shows me to my seat. I sit down at a booth and check out the scenery. There’s a bar in the corner. At least five flat screens in different locations in the restaurant and plenty booth seats. When the waitress appears, I order my favorite, fish tacos. As I wait on my meal, a camera men walks in with his crew. They wait for a woman who comes out of the back. I assume she is the owner. Wow! An interview. How cool. This turns into an exciting day. I ask one of the servers that pass the table where I’m sitting, what’s going on. He’s not sure himself yet, he goes over to check it out himself. As I watch the owner and crew go into another area of the restaurant, I decide to blog about it. When the guy server comes back to the table I ask him about the restaurant. He says he works with cool people and it gets very busy at night.

Reynoldstown/ May 6, 2012
Pepper, the dog, is taking me for a walk in our new neiborhood. I notice people standing in a group and someone is holding a purple balloon. My first thought is how cool a party. As I get closer, I asks what is going on. One of the people from the group tells me Georgia State is working on a on-going experimental project which consist of putting an camera in the balloon and it will take pictures every five minutes making a frame by frame map of the neighborhood. The residences of Reynoldstown will be able to see a map of the community if all works out. How cool huh!
Flying Biscuit Midtown/ May 4, 2012
I left my new significant other, Honey, at home to rest and went to the Flying Biscuit in the midtown area for a delicious breakfast. Little did I know as I walk in a ambulance would follow a screaming fire truck. As I sit at the counter, a line of male police officers wait patiently near the woman's bathroom. A customer mention a lady passed out in the restroom. Minutes later, a lady paramedic walks out with the female customer. The lady follows the female paramedic and walks to the stretcher. I think she okay.
Well, this is too much excitement for me and all I wanted was a peaceful breakfast.
